The idea was simple. Take the dessert he had grown up with, and use real ingredients. Real fruit, real coffee, real vanilla, and real matcha. Not just sugar and water and food coloring. The way shave ice could be. Somewhere along the way homemade ice cream happily worked its way in rather unexpectedly. The result: a shave ice with premium syrups made daily; a refreshing treat after a lazy day at the beach; an island dessert packed with flavor without being too sweet. Paired with natural ice cream without preservatives and premium toppings. This was the taste of Hawaii Jake was looking for.

Later on, Jake’s brother Max joined the venture and together they expanded Kaimana shave ice from a one man (with the occasional family helper (thanks mom, dad, and aunty!) haha) show into the operation it is now, with two locations, and an event catering service.

Despite its growth, Kaimana, at its core, remains a family driven business. So much so, the main shop is located on the same property Jake lived on as a child, with the original family home directly behind the store. It is true, home is definitely where the heart is. This is our family story, and we are excited to share its future with you!
